I have 2 questions about baptism in Anabaptist history. One is a statement a Oneness pentecostal friend made to me. He said it is a historical fact that Anabaptists baptised in Jesus name only just as they do. Is there any truth to that one? 2ndly, David Bercot says that the early church fathers taught what we would call "baptismal regeneration". Another friend from Church of Christ background told me he agrees. He says that the Bible teaches 3 things for salvation, belief, repentance, and baptism? According to Bercot the Anti-Nicine fathers taught basically that. What about our Anabaptist forefathers? God bless you,

I do not think it is a historical fact that Anabaptists baptized in Jesus name only as Oneness penticostals do. He should give you specific documentation for that if he claims this to be a historical fact. Anabaptists believe in the Trinity and do not baptize in Jesus name only. Neither do we believe in baptismal regeneration.
Anabaptists teach that there are these aspects of salvation: belief, repentance and baptism. However, belief and repentance constitute salvation and must precede baptism. The obedience of water baptism is an outward symbol and testimony of what has already transpired in the heart.
